anzac bars
We enjoyed Anzac biscuits on a trip to New Zealand a few years ago. They were a little different in every place we tried them. This retains the spirit of ANZAC biscuits, but in bar form. (Or if you're in AU or NZ - these are Anzac Slices!)

Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup coconut
- 1 cup flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
- 2 tablespoons golden syrup
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut
How To Make anzac bars

Step 1Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease an 8x8 inch pan.

Step 2In a bowl, combine oats, coconut, sugar, flour, baking powder and salt.

Step 3Heat butter and golden syrup in a small saucepan on low heat for 1-2 minutes, until butter has melted and mixture is well combined.

Step 4Make a well in the middle of dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. Mix until combined.

Step 5Press firmly into prepared pan. Use the bottom of a glass to help press.

Step 6Bake for 25 minutes. Sprinkle on the 1/4 cup coconut and return to oven for 5 minutes more until top is golden.

Step 7Cool. Cut squares while bars are still warm. Serve.
