angel cookies

When I was 8 months pregnant with my son (26 yrs ago)...I couldn't get enough sweets! Oh what the heck I still can't...but anyway...found this recipe in a magazine and it's been a favorite ever since. Not sure why they are called Angel cookies...maybe because they are sweet and airy??? :)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening, i use butter flavor crisco
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 ounces butterscotch chips
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped

How To Make angel cookies

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350, combine flour, soda, tartar and salt in a small bowl and set aside. Beat butter, shortening and sugars in a large bowl until well blended. Add egg and vanilla, beat well, add flour mixture and blend well...(it does seem to take forever to come together, but it does quite nicely) Stir in chips and nuts. Roll in 1 1/2" balls, roll in sugar, place on cookie sheet at least 2" apart. Bake at 350 for 12 minutes.
