These are a favorite to make at Christmas, the recipe makes about 18 dozen so it's perfect for giving as special Christmas treats. They're very moist, so make sure you put wax paper in between the layers when packaging or storing. Enjoy! :)

- 4-1/2 cups light brown sugar
- 2 cups shortening, melted
- 2 cups sour cream
- 8 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons baking soda
- 3 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 9 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- pinch - salt
How To Make amish sugar cookies

Step 1Cream the sugar and shortening together. Add sour cream and eggs and beat well. Stir in the remaining ingredients and mix well.

Step 2Drop by teaspoonful onto cookie sheets (I don't grease) bake at 325 for 8-10 minutes
