These are a favorite to make at Christmas, the recipe makes about 18 dozen so it's perfect for giving as special Christmas treats. They're very moist, so make sure you put wax paper in between the layers when packaging or storing. Enjoy! :)

Ingredients

  • 4-1/2 c
    light brown sugar
  • 2 c
    shortening, melted
  • 2 c
    sour cream
  • 8 large
    eggs
  • 3 Tbsp
    baking soda
  • 3 tsp
    cream of tartar
  • 9 c
    flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla extract
  • pinch
    salt

How to Make Amish Sugar Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream the sugar and shortening together. Add sour cream and eggs and beat well. Stir in the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  2. Drop by teaspoonful onto cookie sheets (I don't grease) bake at 325 for 8-10 minutes
