I found this unique cookie recipe in an old Goodhousekeeping cookie book. I think that they would also be good with walnuts or pecans. Yummy

Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 - egg yolks
- 1/4 teaspoon anise extract
- 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
- 1/2 cup coarsly ground almonds
- 1/4 cup sherry
- 1/3 cup coarsly ground almonds
How To Make almond wine biscuits

Step 1Preheat oven to 400. Grease cookies sheets. Place the 1/3 cup almonds in bowl; set aside.

Step 2Sift together flour and salt; set aside. Cream together shortening, sugar, and yolks. Add anise, rind, and 1/2 cup almonds; mix.

Step 3Mix in sherry alternately with flour mixture.

Step 4Drop by tablespoonfuls into 1/3 cup almonds; toss to coat with nuts. Place 1" apart onto greased cookie sheets. Press with spoon into rounds, 1/2" thick.

Step 5Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
