butter flavor shortening
2 Tbsp
1 tsp
almond extract
1/2 c
granulated sugar
1.66 c
all purpose flour
2/3 c
slivered almonds, chopped
1/4 tsp
confectioners' sugar

How to Make Almond Tea Cookies


  • 1Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2Cream butter flavored shortening, milk and almond extract in large bowl at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended.
  • 3Beat in granulated sugar.
  • 4Combine flour, almonds and salt and mix into creamed mixture.
  • 5Shape dough into balls using one level measuring tablespoon for each.
  • 6Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
  • 7Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes. (Cookies will not brown. DO NOT overbake.)
  • 8Remove to cooling rack.
  • 9Roll slightly warm cookies in confectioners sugar and then roll in confectioners sugar again when cookies are completely cool. (Makes 3 dozen cookies.)
