absolutely the best sugar cookies
These sugar cookies have a semi-crisp bite to them. That is just like I like them. The butter gives them a rich balance and the addition of the heavy cream assists in the resulting texture. These are by far the best sugar cookie I have ever had, but you decide for yourself. The cookie bakes up very flat and is great for gift giving, as they stack quite nicely for wrapping in cellophane and a ribbon. My advice is to bake plenty if you plan on letting the secret out that you baked them.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 2 cups all purpose flour

Step 1Beat sugar with butter in a mixing bowl.

Step 2Mix in flour until well blended.

Step 3Form 1 1/4 inch balls of dough. Place on an ungreased sheet (9 to a sheet). Flatten each ball with a flat bottomed glass dipped in sugar.

Step 4Bake in a 375 degree oven for up to 11 minutes.

Step 5Remove from oven and cool for two minutes before transferring with a spatula to a rack to cool completely.

Step 6Store in an airtight container.
