My favorite kind of brownie is one that has frosting. These are good to bring to a potluck because they make lots.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee or water
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 - eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- FROSTING:
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 2 tablespoons dark cocoa
- 1/4 cup milk
- 3 1/2 cups unsifted powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
How To Make texas brownies

Step 1Combine flour and sugar in a large bowl. Combine butter, shortening, coffee or water, cocoa in a large heavy saucepan. Stir and heat to boiling.

Step 2Pour boiling mixture over dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla. Mix well with a wooden spoon. You can also use an electric mixer on high.

Step 3Pour into a well-greased 17 1/2x11 inch jelly roll pan. Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees or until brownies test done.

Step 4Prepare frosting while brownies bake. Combine butter, cocoa, and milk. Heat to boiling, stirring. Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.

Step 5Pour warm frosting over the brownies as soon as you take them out of the oven. Cool and cut into 48 bars.
