This is the best fudge. To me. I can never get enough. I'm not discounting any other fudge recipes. Just mom's came first. Mom's fudge ruined all other recipes for me.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup pet evaporated milk
  • 16 - large marshmellows or
  • 1 cup marshmallow cream
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 ounces (1 cup) hershey's simi-sweet chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecans or walnut (if you want)

How To Make mom's fudge

  • Step 1
    Butter a 8 inch square pan. Mix in heavy 2 quart saucepan, sugar, evaporated milk marshmellows or creme butter and salt.
  • Step 2
    Cook, stirring constantly, over med. heat to a boil. Mixture will be bubbling all over. Boil and stir 5 minutes more. Then take off heat.
  • Step 3
    Stir in until completely melted chocolate pieces. Stir in nuts if you wish. Add vanilla.
  • Step 4
    Spread in a buttered 8inch square pan. Cool. Before serving cut into 30 pieces.
