Ingredients For mint brownies

  • INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    margarine or butter, softened
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 oz
    (2 squares) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1 c
    flour or unbleached flour
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts
  • FROSTING:
  • 2
    egg whites
  • 3 1/4 c
    powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    shortening
  • 2 Tbsp
    margarine or butter, melted
  • 1/8-1/4 tsp
    peppermint extract
  • 2-3
    drops of green food coloring
  • GLAZE:
  • 1 tsp
    margarine or butter
  • 1/2 oz
    unsweetened chocolate

How To Make mint brownies

    Ingredients: Heat oven 350F. Lightly grease 9-inch square pan. In large bowl, cream sugar and 1/2 cup margarine. Stir in eggs and 2 oz. chocolate; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour; blend well. Stir in nuts. Spread in prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until set in center. Cool

    Frosting: In small bowl, beat egg whites until frothy. Gradually add powdered sugar; blend well. Add shortening and 2 Tablespoons margarine. Beat 5-10 minutes until fluffy. Add extract and food coloring; blend well. Spread over cooled bars.

    GLAZE; To prepare glaze, melt 1 teaspoon margarine with 1/2 oz. chocolate. Drizzle over frosting. Chill; cut into bars. Store in refrigerator. 25 bars.
