grammy's chocolate mint bars

These were a staple at almost every Sunday dinner at my Grammy's house when I was younger. Every time I bake them, the aroma takes me back to a wonderful place :)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 - beaten eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 can 16 oz hershey syrup
  • MINT MIX
  • 2 cups confectioner's sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons creme de menthe liquor (the green variety is more fun )
  • FOR GLAZE
  • 6 ounces chocolate chips (milk or semi sweet)
  • 6 tablespoons butter

How To Make grammy's chocolate mint bars

  • Step 1
    Mix cake batter and pour into greased 9x13 pan and bake for at 350 for 25-30 min. (cake will fall to brownie ht)Cool in pan
  • Step 2
    Mix ingredients for for mint mix and spread on cooled cake. Refrigerate cake for approx 1 hr
  • Step 3
    For Glaze: melt chocolate and butter together. Refrigerate until cool, but spreadable. Spread over mint mixture on cake. Refrigerate overnight before cutting into small squares
  • Step 4
