What could be better than an eclair-like crust, rich, creamy vanilla pudding, whipped topping, and chocolate fudge? Everyone loves this yummy dessert! I found this in my husband's family cookbook and it's definitely a keeper! Love it!

  • 1/2 c
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 4
  • 2 (3.4 oz) pkg
    instant vanilla pudding
  • 3 1/2 c
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, room temperature
  • 8 oz
    whipped topping, thawed
  • 12 oz
    chocolate fudge topping

How to Make French Pastry Cake


  1. Bring water and butter to a boil. Add flour, mix well, and cool slightly.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each.
  3. Press into greased 10 x 14 pan and bake at 450 for 15-20 minutes, until crust is golden with a crater-like surface. Remove from oven and cool.
  4. To make filling, mix the pudding, milk, vanilla, and cream cheese in blender. Pour into cooled crust and chill.
  5. Before serving, spread with whipped topping and drizzle with chocolate fudge topping.
