I found this recipe a long time ago and my family absolutely loves this dessert. It's time consuming but the results are worth it! The chocolate and mint are wonderful together. Just a small portion is all you need to be satisified. I'm always asked for this recipe when I bring it to get togethers.

Ingredients For double chocolate mint dessert

  • CAKE LAYER
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 4
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 c
    hershey's syrup
  • MINT CREAM LAYER
  • 2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 Tbsp
    water
  • 1/2 tsp
    mint extract
  • 3 dash
    green food coloring
  • CHOCOLATE TOPPING
  • 6 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 c
    chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tsp
    mint extract

How To Make double chocolate mint dessert

    Cake layer: Heat oven to 350 degrees Grease 9x13 pan

    In large bowl beat all ingredients until smooth

    Pour into pan, bake 25-30 minutes cool completely in pan

    Mint cream layer: in small bowl mix 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1 TBS. water, 1/2 tsp. mint extract and 3 drops of green food coloring. Beat until smooth.

    Spread over cooled cake

    Chocolate topping: in small microwavable bowl melt 6 TBS. butter, 1 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 tsp. mint extract for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or just until chips are melted and mixture is smooth when stirred. Let mixture cool before pouring onto cream layer.
