  • 1 stick
  • 1 c
    plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
    self rising flour
  • 1/8 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp
    almond extract (optional)
  • 3/4 c

  • 1 c
  • 6 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 2 c
    boiling water

How to Make Jan's Easy Chocolate Cobbler


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt the stick of butter in a 13 X 9-inch glass baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix the 1 c. plus 2 T. sugar, flour, vanilla, and milk. Pour this batter over the butter in baking dish, but do NOT stir.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa and remaining 1 cup of sugar.
    Sprinkle the cocoa/sugar mixture over the batter. Again, do NOT stir.
  4. Pour the 2 cups of boiling water on top of the cocoa/sugar (do not stir).
    Bake for about 30-45 minutes.
