Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups self rising flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • CHOCOLATE LAYER:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 6 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 cups boiling water

How To Make jan's easy chocolate cobbler

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt the stick of butter in a 13 X 9-inch glass baking dish.
  • Step 2
    In a bowl, mix the 1 c. plus 2 T. sugar, flour, vanilla, and milk. Pour this batter over the butter in baking dish, but do NOT stir.
  • Step 3
    In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa and remaining 1 cup of sugar. Sprinkle the cocoa/sugar mixture over the batter. Again, do NOT stir.
  • Step 4
    Pour the 2 cups of boiling water on top of the cocoa/sugar (do not stir). Bake for about 30-45 minutes.
