Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup toasted almonds, pecans or walnuts
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate squares
  • EQUIPMENT
  • - lightly greased 8 x 8-inch baking pan

How To Make chocolate chunk brownies (oven version)

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Melt butter.
  • Step 3
    Add the sugar, eggs, cocoa and vanilla.
  • Step 4
    Combine the flour and baking powder.
  • Step 5
    Stir into the chocolate mixture.
  • Step 6
    Toast the nuts by spreading in a single layer in a shallow pan. Bake at 325 degrees F for 10 to 15 minutes.

    Coarsely chop the chocolate squares, keeping in large chunks.

    Stir in the nuts and chocolate to batter.
  • Step 9
    Spread batter in an 8 X 8-inch baking pan that is lightly greased.

    Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out barely moist.
