Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2/3 cup cocoa
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar for sprinkling

How To Make chocolate chocolate-chip scones

  • Step 1
In a food processor or large mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, & salt.
  • Step 2
Cut butter into mixture. Mix until butter resembles pea size look. If using food processor, remove to large mixing bowl.
  • Step 3
    Add chocolate chips to mixture.
  • Step 4
In small mixing bowl, mix lemon juice, vanilla, and milk and then pour over flour mixture. Toss together with fork just enough to form a dough ball. I used a cast iron 16 serving scone pan. Spray cast iron pan lightly and place dough into each scone slot. Or...... Roll to 1" thickness and cut out scones with biscuit cutter or in triangles with a sharp knife and place on parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  • Step 5
Brush tops of scones with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 375* for 25 minutes. 7 points per scone
