Ingredients
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 x large egg
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter, cold, cut up into little bits
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips, chocolate of your choie
- 1 x large egg white
- 2 tablespoons sugar
How To Make chocolate chip buttermilk scones

Step 1Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Combine the first 4 ingredients in a medium bowl, stirring with a whisk. Spray baking sheet with cooking spray.

Step 2Combine flour, baking powder & salt, in a large bowl, stirring with a whisk. Cut in chilled butter with a pastry blender, or 2 knives, until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Gently fold in chocolate chips. Add milk mixture, stirring just until moist.

Step 3Place dough onto a floured surface & knead lightly four times with floured hands. Form dough into an 9" circle onto baking sheet, about 3/4" thick. Using a knife, cut dough into 12 wedges all the way through.

Step 4Brush egg white over dough & sprinkle evenly with sugar. Bake until golden, about 18 - 20 minutes, depending on your oven. Serve warm.
