  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 x large egg
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter, cold, cut up into little bits
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips, chocolate of your choie
  • 1 x large egg white
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

How To Make chocolate chip buttermilk scones

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Combine the first 4 ingredients in a medium bowl, stirring with a whisk. Spray baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Step 2
Combine flour, baking powder & salt, in a large bowl, stirring with a whisk. Cut in chilled butter with a pastry blender, or 2 knives, until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Gently fold in chocolate chips. Add milk mixture, stirring just until moist.
  • Step 3
Place dough onto a floured surface & knead lightly four times with floured hands. Form dough into an 9" circle onto baking sheet, about 3/4" thick. Using a knife, cut dough into 12 wedges all the way through.
