chocolate chip banana bread
I am always looking for a way to use bananas that are getting over ripe. This bread is a quick way to use the bananas and have some chocolate as well. My husband loves the walnuts, but they are optional.

Makes one loaf
Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup (about 3 small) mashed ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 - eggs
- 1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
How To Make chocolate chip banana bread

Step 1Grease bottom only of 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Combine all ingredients except chocolate chips and walnuts in large mixer bowl; blend well on medium speed. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.

Step 2Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350 for 60-70 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack.
