chocolate biscuits w/brown sugar cinnamon butter
These biscuits have a wonderful chocolate flavor, and the brown sugar cinnamon butter puts them over the top! You can also use the biscuits for a chocolate version of strawberry shortcakes, and the brown sugar cinnamon butter is good on bagels & toast, too! This recipe is adapted from a recipe I saw on "How Sweet it Is". Try it...you'll love it!

Makes about 15 biscuits
Ingredients
- BISCUITS
- 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetend cocoa powder (i use hershey's special dark)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup butter, cut into pieces
- 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- BROWN SUGAR CINNAMON BUTTER
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
How To Make chocolate biscuits w/brown sugar cinnamon butter

Step 1Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda & salt in a large bowl.

Step 2Add the butter pieces into the mixture and use a pastry blender, fork, or two knives to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles course crumbs.

Step 3Add the buttermilk and vanilla, and stir until combined. Use your hands to bring it together if need be.

Step 4Lay a piece of parchment paper (or use a pastry mat), and sprinkle it liberally with cocoa powder. Drop the dough on it and pat it down with your hands to about 1/2 thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter, and place on a nonstick cookie sheet. Bake about 12 - 15 min. (mine only take 12 min), in a preheated 425 degree oven.

Step 5While the biscuits are baking, mix 1 stick of softened butter with the 2 tablespoons of brown sugar & 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon until well mixed. Enjoy!
