Ingredients
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon grated orange or lemon peel
- FILLING
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- TOPPING
- 3 - eggs
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice or 3 tbsp. orange juice
- 1 tablespoon grated orange or lemon peel
- 1 dash nutmeg
- 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- - powdered sugar, for garnish
- EQUIPMENT
- - pregreased 8-inch square baking pan
How To Make chocolate bars (oven version)

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2Measure flour and baking powder into a bowl.

Step 3Add butter and, either with pastry blender or fingers, blend butter into flour mixture until consistency of cornmeal.

Step 4Add powdered sugar and orange or lemon peel.

Step 5Press mixture evenly onto bottom of a pre-greased 8-inch square baking pan.

Step 6Prebake crust for about 7 minutes at 350 degrees F.

Step 7Spread chocolate chips over hot crust.

Step 8As soon a chips melt, spread chocolate evenly over crust. If chips don't melt quickly, put pan back in the oven for a few minutes.

Step 9Combine all remaining ingredients in a bowl.

Step 10Mix thoroughly.

Step 11Pour mixture over chocolate layer.

Step 12Bake at 350 degrees F for about 25 minutes or until top is lightly browned.

Step 13Cool.

Step 14Dust with powdered sugar.

Step 15Cut into even squares.
