How to Make Chocolate Bars (microwave version)

  • 1Combine flour, baking powder, powdered sugar and orange or lemon peel in a bowl.
  • 2Add butter. Blend with hands until mixture resembles cornmeal. You may do this in a food processor - process until mixture forms a soft ball.
  • 3Press mixture evenly over bottom of a microsafe baking dish. Place dish on a microsafe meat rack or on a microsafe platter.
  • 4Microwave for 4 minutes at HIGH power. Remove from microwave oven.
  • 5Sprinkle chocolate chips all over hot crust. As chocolate melts, spread evenly over pastry.
  • 6Combine all remaining ingredients in a bowl. Mix thoroughly. Pour mixture over chocolate layer.
  • 7Microwave for about 8 minutes at MEDIUM HIGH power, turning dish once if your microwave is not a rotating one.
  • 8Let cake stand for a few minutes. Cool in pan. Dust with powdered sugar. Cut into bars or thin wedges depending on dish used.
