Just like the cheese cake cookies my mom makes she also makes Candy Cane Cookies for christmas :) enjoy

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 3/4 c
    butter or margarine
  • 3/4 c
  • 1
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp
    red food coloring drops

How to Make Candy Cane Cookies


  1. Stir Together flour, baking Powder,& Salt .In Large Mixer Bowl beat butter or margarine till soften .Add sugar & beat till fluffy .Add egg, vanilla & almond extract & beat well
  2. Add Flour mixture and beat till well mixed. Divide the dough in Half*. Stir food coloring into one half . Cover each half and chill at least 30 minutes or till easy handle .
  3. One a lightly floured surface , shape about one-half of a measurable tablespoon of plain dough into a 6 in rope . Repeat with about one-half of a measuring tablespoon of red dough. Place ropes side by side and twist together 6 times . Form twisted rope into a cane shape , place on a ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Repeat with remaining dough , leaving 2 inches between cookies . Bake at 375'F oven about 10 minutes until done . Cool about 1 minute , then remove and cool thoroughly. Makes about 24. I make one batch of plain dough and 1 batch of red dough makes ( about 48 cookies )
