Just like the cheese cake cookies my mom makes she also makes Candy Cane Cookies for christmas :) enjoy

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring drops

How To Make candy cane cookies

  • Step 1
    Stir Together flour, baking Powder,& Salt .In Large Mixer Bowl beat butter or margarine till soften .Add sugar & beat till fluffy .Add egg, vanilla & almond extract & beat well
  • Step 2
    Add Flour mixture and beat till well mixed. Divide the dough in Half*. Stir food coloring into one half . Cover each half and chill at least 30 minutes or till easy handle .
  • Step 3
    One a lightly floured surface , shape about one-half of a measurable tablespoon of plain dough into a 6 in rope . Repeat with about one-half of a measuring tablespoon of red dough. Place ropes side by side and twist together 6 times . Form twisted rope into a cane shape , place on a ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Step 4
    Repeat with remaining dough , leaving 2 inches between cookies . Bake at 375'F oven about 10 minutes until done . Cool about 1 minute , then remove and cool thoroughly. Makes about 24. I make one batch of plain dough and 1 batch of red dough makes ( about 48 cookies )
