  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
  • 2
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    baking cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 c
  • 1/3 c
    chopped pecans

  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 2 Tbsp
    chocolate syrup

How to Make Buttermilk Chocolate Bread


  1. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs; 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Combine the flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder, and baking soda; add to cream mixture alternately with buttermilk.
  4. Fold in pecans.
  5. Pour into a greased 9 X 5 X 3 inch loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 - 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to wire rack.
  8. Mix butter, honey and chocolate syrup; mix well.
  9. Serve the mixture with the bread.
