amazing chocolate sauce

This chocolate sauce has that WONDERFUL cooked chocolate taste (you all know what I'm talking about--really deep and almost on verge of burnt). It's great on ice cream, in milk, or drizzled on just about anything. I bet even old socks would taste good with this stuff poured over it.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 - cup sugar
  • 1 - 12 oz. can evaporated milk ("pet" milk)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • - dash or two of salt

How To Make amazing chocolate sauce

  • Step 1
In heavy saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and cocoa. Stir.
  • Step 2
Remove from heat and add sugar, milk (make sure it's EVAPORATED milk...NOT sweetened condensed milk), vanilla and salt. Stir well.
  • Step 3
Return to heat and cook until desired thickness (less for thin syrup...longer for thick syrup). Time will depend on your stove and your preference. Make sure you stir it pretty much constantly...don't want it to burn on the bottom.
  • Step 4
Store in airtight container in fridge for up to a couple of weeks.
