Makes 60 bars
Ingredients
- 4 1/2 cups rolled oats (uncooked)
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 3/4 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup dark corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 package semi-sweet choc. pieces
- 2 tablespoons shortening, butter flavor
- 2/3 cup chopped mixed nuts
How To Make yuletide toffee squares

Step 1Heat oven to 450 F and grease a 15x10 in pan.

Step 2Combine oats, sugar, butter, corn syrup, vanilla and salt. Mix well.

Step 3Firmly press mixture into pan and bake 12 minutes or until mixture is brown and bubbly.

Step 4cool completely

Step 5In a glass bowl, add shortening and chocolate pieces and microwave on high for 1-2 minutes. Stir after 1 minute and then every 30 seconds until smooth.

Step 6Spread evenly over base, sprinkle with nuts. Chill until set and then cut into bars.
