My granddaughter loves to help make these. You can roll the apples in sprinkles or small candies, like mini-m & m's.

Ingredients

  • 6 medium granny smith apples
  • 6 - 6" wooden craft sticks
  • 50 - werther's original chewy caramels.
  • 2 tablespoons water or light cream. i use light cream
  • 1 - small bag semisweet chocolate chips
  • - orange and green candy sprinkles

How To Make twice-dipped candy apples

  • Step 1
    Line a baking sheet w/ non-stick foil, or spray foil w/ cooking spray. Wash,& dry apples. Remove stems from apples. Insert a craft stick into each apple.
  • Step 2
    Place caramels and cream in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 2-2/12 mins, stirring every minute until caramels are melted and smooth.Holding apples by the stick, dip and swirl in caramel. Gently scrape bottoms to remove excess.
  • Step 3
    Chill in refrigerator for 15 mins. While apples chill, microwave chocolate chips until melted. Stir until smooth. Dip a chilled apple into chocolate, then roll into sprinkles or mini candies. Refrigerate another 15 mins to set.
