Ingredients
- 1.5 cups margarine
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1.5 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1.5 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 pound chocolate, suitable for dipping
- 3/4 cup pecans
How To Make toffee

Step 1**Have soda ready at the stove to add at once.

Step 2Melt butters slowly; add sugar, water and salt.

Step 3Cook at low heat, stirring constantly until it reaches 212 degrees.

Step 4STOP STIRRING until candy reaches 236 degrees.

Step 5Add the walnuts and stir constantly until candy reaches 290 degrees.

Step 6Remove from heat and add soda, stirring well.

Step 7Pour onto buttered cookie sheet.

Step 8Immediately cut into squares.

Step 9Will run back together, but can be cracked where cut.

Step 10Add dipping chocolate (chips/squares) on top.

Step 11They will melt and you can spread them out.

Step 12Sprinkle nuts on top (optional).
