My Mom used to make these every Christmas as part of the cookies we'd give to friends.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 box saltine crackers

How To Make toffee pieces

  • Step 1
    Line a jellyroll pan with foil. Spray with Pam or other nonstick spray. Line the crackers on top of the foil. Try not to leave any spaces.
  • Step 2
    Melt butter & brown sugar in saucepan and cook for 3 minutes. Pour evenly over crackers. Bake at 500 degrees for 3 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Spread chocolate chips on top and bake for 30 seconds. Gently spread chocolate over the top of the crackers. Sprinkle nuts over melted chocolate.
  • Step 4
    Cool in refrigerator (about 5-10 minutes). Remove foil and break into pieces. Enjoy!
