Our family loves this treat. It's definitely an adult treat, but you can also make it kid friendly.

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups crushed vanilla wafers (about 75 wafers)
- 1 cup ground pecans
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup dark rum
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons water
- extra - crushed wafers and confectioners sugar
How To Make rum balls
-
Step 1In a large mixing bowl, combine the wafer crumbs, pecans, confectioners sugar and cocoa (yes 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons. I don't know why the extra but it makes a BIG difference.)
-
Step 2Mix the rum, the honey, and water; stir into dry mixture. Mixture should be moist enough to form balls.
-
Step 3Shape into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in extra confectioners sugar or extra wafer crumbs.
-
Step 4Store in airtight container. The longer they set, the better (and STRONGER) they get. You can also cover them in your favorite chocolate covering. If you prefer a nonalcoholic recipe, substitute the rum with orange concentrate and a splash of rum extract.
