quick southern pralines
(1 RATING)
This was my mother's recipe that I have used for years! My whole family just loves these pralines and they make great gifts in a nice tin. It is so easy and takes so little time.

Ingredients
- 1 package butterscotch pudding (small package -- not instant)
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make quick southern pralines
-
Step 1Mix sugars, small pudding mix, milk and butter in a medium sauce pan
-
Step 2Cook over low heat until it comes to a boil. Continue cooking gently until the soft-ball stage (about 10 minutes). You must stir it constantly to keep from sticking.
-
Step 3Stir in nuts and vanilla extract.
-
Step 4Remove from heat and beat until mixture begins to thicken. It will still be a bit thin. Drop by tablespoon onto parchment paper to cool. If it gets too thick, reheat it until it gets thinner. Cool.
-
Step 5(Do not double up on the recipe; rather make this recipe one at a time. Otherwise it will get too thick before you can get it on the parchment paper)
