peanut brittle
Only five ingredients. My grandmother on my Dad's side let me put the candy thermometer in to check the temp. She was confident I wouldn't burn myself.....made me so proud! This makes about a pound. Servings size depends on the eater!

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 1/4 cups raw peanuts
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
How To Make peanut brittle
-
Step 1Combine the sugar and syrup in a large saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves. Cover and cook over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes to wash down any sugar crystals from the sides of the pan.
-
Step 2Add the peanuts; cook, stirring occasionally until hard-crack stage (300º F). Remove from heat and stir in butter and baking soda.
-
Step 3Pour onto a buttered baking sheet, spreading thin. Cook and break into pieces. Enjoy immediately or store in an air tight container.
