These were a favorite of my mother-in-law. However, she never could make these without burning them so she would buy the ingredients and have me make them for her. She was the best mother-in law anyone could ask for and I miss her dearly.

Ingredients
- 2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 1/2 cups mixed pecan pieces,and halves
- 1 tablespoon butter
How To Make original pecan pralines

Step 1Combine sugar and water in a heavy 2-qt saucepan.

Step 2Heat to boiling, using low heat and stirring CONSTANTLY. Stir in pecans.

Step 3Cook until mixture reaches softball stage or 235 degrees. Be careful not to burn.

Step 4Remove from heat; stir in butter. Immediately drop by tablespoon onto waxed paper.

Step 5Let stand until firm. Yield about 1 1/2 dozen.
