This was fun and so easy to make. Grandma lived on a farm, and had to make her own candy...to give to us grandchildren,when we visited. She would also make her own "sugar nipples" for when the babies cried. A homemade pacifier! She wet the corner of a hankie, dipped it in sugar,twisted it , tied a not and let the crying baby suck on it!!! It always worked!! Talk about a sugar high!!!!

Ingredients

6 cups sugar
3 cups water
3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

How To Make old fashioned rock candy

Step 1

In a large saucepan, cook all above ingredients quickly without stirring to 290F. Pour quickly into a grease square pan. Chill until firm. Turn out of pan, and crack into desired pieces. Yield: 2 pounds.

Be sure you have a good dentist available in a couple years!!!
