How to Make Joanie's Vanilla Caramels
- Cook the first 5 ingredients together, stirring constantly until dissolved.
- Cook slow until temperature is 248* or mixture forms a firm ball when dropped in cold water.
- Remove from heat and add butter, salt, and vanilla- mix well
- Pour into greased or buttered pan, cool (about 3 hours) invert onto wooden board and cut into squares. OR Leave caramel in pan and dip apples, pretzels or anything else you would like!
