Ingredients
- SUGAR COOKIE BASE
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 - egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- CARAMEL
- 12 ounces evaporated milk
- 6 tablespoons butter, unsalted
- 1 1/2 cups corn syrup, light
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- CHOCOLATE COATING
- 12 ounces melting chocolate (almond bark or wafers)
How To Make homemade twix bars

Step 1For base: Preheat oven to 350. Mix butter, sugar, then add in egg and extracts. Add in flour and baking powder. Spread on jelly roll baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until edges are golden brown. Set aside to cool.

Step 2For caramel: Over medium heat in a heavy pan, bring all ingredients (except vanilla) to a boil. Continue to stir until mixture reaches soft ball stage. Remove from heat and mix in the vanilla extract. Pour over sugar cookie base.

Step 3Finishing: Either cut up bars once cool and pour chocolate over top to coat top and sides or pour chocolate over the pan of prepared bars. Let chocolate set, cut up and enjoy!
