Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons real butter
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts - if desired

How To Make grandma's favorite carmel recipe

  • Step 1
    Butter a 8" or 9" square pan.
  • Step 2
    Combine sugar, corn syrup, salt, butter, and 1 cup of the cream; Boil to soft ball stage-stirring constantly.
  • Step 3
    Add remaining cream slowly while cooking- cook 45 minutes or until mixture makes a firm pliable ball when dropped into cold water.
  • Step 4
    Remove from heat. Add vanilla and nuts. Pour into prepared pan. Let stand 12 hours.
  • Step 5
    Cut into 1-inch squares and wrap each individually with waxed paper.
