This was my favorite candy for the Christmas holidays. My mother would make it especially for me every year. She rolled hers in coconut and I roll mine in powdered sugar.

How to Make Date Balls


  1. Melt the butter. Add the sugar.
  2. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  3. Add the dates. Cook for five minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and cool a few minutes.
  5. Add hot mixture, a spoonful at a time, to the eggs. Stir rapidly.
  6. Boil two minutes longer. Remove from heat.
  7. Pour over rice krispies. Roll into balls. Roll balls in coconut or powdered sugar. Chill until serving time.
