This was my favorite candy for the Christmas holidays. My mother would make it especially for me every year. She rolled hers in coconut and I roll mine in powdered sugar.

2 c
pecans, chopped
2 c
chopped dates
1 c
butter, softened
eggs, beaten
5 c
rice krispies cereal

How to Make Date Balls


  • 1Melt the butter. Add the sugar.
  • 2Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • 3Add the dates. Cook for five minutes.
  • 4Remove from heat and cool a few minutes.
  • 5Add hot mixture, a spoonful at a time, to the eggs. Stir rapidly.
  • 6Boil two minutes longer. Remove from heat.
  • 7Pour over rice krispies. Roll into balls. Roll balls in coconut or powdered sugar. Chill until serving time.
