Homemade chocolate covered strawberries are incredibly easy to make and are one of my favorite Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day treats. With just a few helpful hints, anyone can make these easy candies and customize them with sprinkles and nuts.

Ingredients
- 2 pounds fresh strawberries washed and dried very well
- 12 ounces chocolate chips (dark, semi-sweet, milk, or white)
- 3 teaspoons coconut oil or shortening
- assorted finely chopped nuts (graham, cracker crumbs, crushed cookies or sprinkles)
How To Make chocolate covered strawberries

Step 1Melt chocolate in a mini Crock Pot or microwave. (see notes)

Step 2Stir in 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons of coconut oil to the melted chocolate to thin it just a bit.

Step 3Dip strawberries in melted chocolate and place them on parchment-covered baking sheets.

Step 4Using a small spoon, sprinkle some of the strawberries with chopped nuts, graham cracker crumbs, sprinkles, or crushed cookies. Place in the refrigerator to set.

Step 5If drizzling the strawberries, spoon several tablespoons of melted chocolate into a zipper sandwich bag and snip off a tiny corner. Drizzle over fully set strawberries.
