Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 20 ounces maraschino cherries with stems, drained
- 2 cups milk chocolate chips (you could also use dark chocolate chips if you want)
- 3 tablespoons shortening

Step 1Combine butter, syrup, vanilla and salt. Add sugar gradually and beat well. If it becomes too thick, knead it a little. Divide in half and roll into two 7 inch logs. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate 1 1/2 hours to firm. Cut into 1 inch pieces, cut each piece into quarters. Place in palm of hand to flatten and wrap evenly around a cherry. Repeat with all remaining cherries. Place on waxed paper lined cookie sheets and freeze, covered, 30 min. Melt chips and shortening over hot but not boiling water until smooth, dip each cherry in, shake off excess and allow to cool on waxed paper lined cookie sheets in fridge.
