These bar cookies are so easy to make. Always use real butter! Substitutes do not taste as good...simply put. Spare yourself time and energy and only use real butter! I have been making these sweet delights since I was a youngster.

Good year around, but a favorite during the Holidays!

Ingredients

1 c
butter (2 sticks) no substitutes,real butter
1 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
1
egg
1 tsp
pure vanilla extract
2 c
all purpose flour
1/4 tsp
salt
1 c
chocolate chips
1 c
toffee bits/chips

How to Make ChefCheryl's Toffee Bars

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat oven: 350 degrees
  • 2Cream the butter,brown sugar
  • 3Add egg and vanilla
  • 4Beat until it is well creamed and fluffy
  • 5Blend in flour/salt, gradually
  • 6mix well
  • 7stir in chocolate chips and toffee bits
  • 8press mixture into a 13 x9 inch jelly roll pan (I line pan with parchment paper)
  • 9Bake for 20 minutes (do not over bake as it will be soft [should be]. It hardens as it cools)
  • 10cut into bars and serve
