These bar cookies are so easy to make. Always use real butter! Substitutes do not taste as good...simply put. Spare yourself time and energy and only use real butter! I have been making these sweet delights since I was a youngster.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    butter (2 sticks) no substitutes,real butter
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    chocolate chips
  • 1 c
    toffee bits/chips

How to Make ChefCheryl's Toffee Bars

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oven: 350 degrees
  2. Cream the butter,brown sugar
  3. Add egg and vanilla
  4. Beat until it is well creamed and fluffy
  5. Blend in flour/salt, gradually
  6. mix well
  7. stir in chocolate chips and toffee bits
  8. press mixture into a 13 x9 inch jelly roll pan (I line pan with parchment paper)
  9. Bake for 20 minutes (do not over bake as it will be soft [should be]. It hardens as it cools)
  10. cut into bars and serve
