These bar cookies are so easy to make. Always use real butter! Substitutes do not taste as good...simply put. Spare yourself time and energy and only use real butter! I have been making these sweet delights since I was a youngster. Good year around, but a favorite during the Holidays!

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter (2 sticks) no substitutes,real butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 - egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup toffee bits/chips
How To Make chefcheryl's toffee bars

Step 1Heat oven: 350 degrees

Step 2Cream the butter,brown sugar

Step 3Add egg and vanilla

Step 4Beat until it is well creamed and fluffy

Step 5Blend in flour/salt, gradually

Step 6mix well

Step 7stir in chocolate chips and toffee bits

Step 8press mixture into a 13 x9 inch jelly roll pan (I line pan with parchment paper)

Step 9Bake for 20 minutes (do not over bake as it will be soft [should be]. It hardens as it cools)

Step 10cut into bars and serve
