Everybody loves these! Whats not to like, cake and chocolate! So easy!
You can make these with any flavor cake. yellow cake, use white chocolate coating etc. You can also add nuts, candies etc. to the crumbled cake before making balls. Different things can be used for binding the cake together. Cream cheese, flavored coffee creamer, melted ice cream, peanut butter... use your imagination! Chocolate cake and chocolate frosting seem to be the favorite comination though!

How to Make Cake Balls

  1. Prepare the cake mix according to package directions using any of the recommended pan sizes. When cake is done, crumble while warm into a large bowl, and stir in the frosting until the cake binds together. I used about half a tub or little more of the frosting enough to bind it together. Sort of like a cookie dough.
Use a melon baller or small scoop to form balls of the chocolate cake mixture. Put the balls on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Put in the refridgerator until cold. Dip the balls in chocolate using a toothpick or fork to hold them. Place on waxed paper to set.
I made the balls and froze them in a zip loc bag ahead of time. Took out what I wanted to coat, and then put the rest back in the freezer for later use.
