My personal favorite dessert bar.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups oatmeal
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup light karo syrup
  • 2/3 cup margarine, melted
  • 1/4 cup crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ICING
  • 6 ounce packages semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 6 ounce packages butterscotch morsels
  • 3/4 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)

How To Make baby ruth bars

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl, combine the oatmeal, brown sugar, corn syrup, margarine, peanut butter and vanilla. Stir until moist. Spread in pan (batter will be thick). Bake for 12 minutes; cool slightly.
  • Step 3
    Combine chocolate and butterscotch chips, peanut butter and vanilla in small saucepan. Stir until melted. Spread on warm bars.
