This is an old family recipe....from my great grandmother Hunt.

Makes 20 - 24 pralines

Ingredients

2 c
sugar
1 tsp
baking soda
1 c
buttermilk
pinch
salt
2 Tbsp
butter
2 1/3 c
pecans

How to Make Another Louisiana Praline - Buttermilk!

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a large pan (mixture boils up very high) combine the sugar, baking soda, buttermilk and salt. Cook on high heat for 5 minutes.
  • 2Lower heat and cook to soft ball stage. Remove from heat, add butter and pecans. Beat by hand until glossy.
  • 3Drop onto wax paper to cool. Pralines can be dropped smaller for "sampler" size for parties.
