The first time I had this cake was back in the early 80's. My cousin was visiting from California and made this for a BBQ. We all loved it!

Ingredients

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1 package vanilla pudding (small cooked kind)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 12 ounces cool whip, thawed
  • 20 ounces can crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 package flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • - maraschino cherries

How To Make yum yum cake

  • Step 1
    Prepare yellow cake mix according to directions in a jelly roll pan. Cool completely.
  • Step 2
    Cook vanilla pudding and milk. I use my microwave. Bring to a boil. Cool in refrigerator. Cover with saran wrap do it does not form a skin.
  • Step 3
    Beat vanilla pudding and cream cheese together very well with mixer. Fold in Cool Whip.
  • Step 4
    Frost the cake.
  • Step 5
    Sprinkle pineapple over pudding, cream cheese & Cool Whip mixture.
  • Step 6
    Sprinkle evenly with coconut. Then sprinkle with pecans.
  • Step 7
    Use cherries to decorate cake/add color.
  • Step 8
    Keep cake refrigerated.
