The first time I had this cake was back in the early 80's. My cousin was visiting from California and made this for a BBQ. We all loved it!

  • 1 pkg
    yellow cake mix
  • 1 pkg
    vanilla pudding (small cooked kind)
  • 1 c
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, room temperature
  • 12 oz
    cool whip, thawed
  • 20 oz
    can crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 pkg
    flaked coconut
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans
  • ·
    maraschino cherries

How to Make YUM YUM CAKE


  1. Prepare yellow cake mix according to directions in a jelly roll pan. Cool completely.
  2. Cook vanilla pudding and milk. I use my microwave. Bring to a boil. Cool in refrigerator. Cover with saran wrap do it does not form a skin.
  3. Beat vanilla pudding and cream cheese together very well with mixer. Fold in Cool Whip.
  4. Frost the cake.
  5. Sprinkle pineapple over pudding, cream cheese & Cool Whip mixture.
  6. Sprinkle evenly with coconut. Then sprinkle with pecans.
  7. Use cherries to decorate cake/add color.
  8. Keep cake refrigerated.
