SO EASY , DENSE ,A LITTLE HEAVY,AND RICH AND OH SO GOOD, MAKES A WONDERFUL CAKE,I MAKE IT SOME TIMES FOR A FAMILY GET TOGETHER AND FOR CHURCH, A GOOD SIZE CAKE, .

Ingredients

  • 4 c
    applesauce, unsweetened
  • 1 c
    butter or margarine
  • 2 c
    white sugar
  • 4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 4 c
    white flour
  • 1 lb
    box of rasins pour hot water over raisins, to plump, drain thoroughtly
  • 1 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts. [

How to Make WONDERFUL APPLESAUCE CAKE

Step-by-Step

  1. HEAT APPLESUCE AND BUTTER, TOGETHER IN A LARGE SAUCE PAN UNTIL BUTTER IS MELTED,
  2. PUT INGREDIENTS IN LARGE BOWL, STIR IN APPLESAUCE MIXTURE, AND RAISINS AND NUTS.
  3. POUR BATTER IN A GREASED AND FLOURED [ONLT USE A 13X9 PAN]
    BAKE AT 350 FOR ABOUT AN 45 MINUTES,[TEST WITH A TOOTHPICK IN CENTER OF CAKE TO MAKE SURE IT IS BAKED ]LET COOL COMPLETELY BEFORE PUTTING FROSTING ON
  4. FROSTING
    MELT ONE
    STICK OF BUTTER OR MARGRINE IN A HEAVY SKILLET
    1 CUP FIRMLY PACKED BROWN SUGAR, STIR UNTIL IS COMPLETELY MELTED, MY TAKE ABOUT 10 MINUTES ON MEDIUM HEAT. STIR ALL THE TIME,
    [THE RECIPE CALLS FOR A IRON SKILET IF YOU HAVE
    ONE} SO IT CARMELIZES, ADD 1/2 CUP OF EVAPORATED MILK [NOT SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK]
    STIR COMPLETELY , REMOVE PAN FROM HEAT, AND LET COOL UNTIL BARELY WARM
    ADD 2 CUPS OF CONFECTIONERY SUGAR. MIXWELL, AND SPREAD OVER COOLED CAKE
    ADD SPRINKLE MORE NUTS ON TOP IF DESIRD.
