I found this recipe in a 1993 edition of Taste of Home Magazine. My mother-in-law loved this cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    butter
  • I c
    water
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 2
    eggs beaten
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1 tsp
    almond extract
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • FROSTING

  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 4 1/2 c
    confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    almond extract
  • 1 c
    chopped walnuts

How to Make White Texas Sheet Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large saucepan, bring butter and water to boil.
  2. Remove from the heat, stir in flour, sugar, eggs, sour cream, almond extract, slat and baking soda until smooth.
  3. Pour into a greased 15-in x 10 in x 1 baking pan.
  4. Bake at 375 for 20 to 22 minutes or until cake is golden brown and tests done. Cool for 20 minutes
  5. Meanwhile for frosting, combine butter and milk in a saucepan. Bring to boil.
  6. Remove from heat, add sugar and extract and mix well. Stir in walnuts
  7. Spread over warm cake.
