I found this recipe in a 1993 edition of Taste of Home Magazine. My mother-in-law loved this cake.

Ingredients

1 c
butter
I c
water
2 c
all purpose flour
2 c
sugar
2
eggs beaten
1/2 c
sour cream
1 tsp
almond extract
1 tsp
salt
1 tsp
baking soda

FROSTING

1/2 c
butter
1/4 c
milk
4 1/2 c
confectioners sugar
1/2 tsp
almond extract
1 c
chopped walnuts

How to Make White Texas Sheet Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a large saucepan, bring butter and water to boil.
  • 2Remove from the heat, stir in flour, sugar, eggs, sour cream, almond extract, slat and baking soda until smooth.
  • 3Pour into a greased 15-in x 10 in x 1 baking pan.
  • 4Bake at 375 for 20 to 22 minutes or until cake is golden brown and tests done. Cool for 20 minutes
  • 5Meanwhile for frosting, combine butter and milk in a saucepan. Bring to boil.
  • 6Remove from heat, add sugar and extract and mix well. Stir in walnuts
  • 7Spread over warm cake.
