I prefer this delicious sheet cake over a chocolate one. My favorite cake is white so no surprise I'd prefer this.

So moist, I just love it...I think it is quite pretty also. This is an excellent cake to take to a pot luck, always well received.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    butter
  • 1 c
    water
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla or almond extract ( i use 1/2 tsp of both )
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • PECAN FROSTING

  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    milk or half n half
  • 4 1/2 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    almond extract
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans

How to Make White Sheet Cake W/ Pecan Glaze

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large saucepan, bring 1 cup butter or margarine and water to a boil. Remove from heat, and stir in flour, sugar, eggs, sour cream, 1 teaspoon almond extract, salt, and baking soda until smooth. Pour batter into a greased sheet cake pan.
  2. Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 minutes, or until cake is golden brown and tests done. Cool for 20 minutes.
  3. Combine 1/2 cup butter or margarine and milk in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Mix in sugar and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. Stir in pecans
  4. Spread frosting over warm cake.
