White Buttermilk Cake
This cake can be left "naked", dusted with powdered sugar or frosted with your favorite frosting recipe.
This one is topped with fresh lemon curd.
2 cbuttermilk, separated
4 csifted cake flour
1 Tbspbaking powder
1/2 tspbaking soda
4 mediumegg whites, stiffly beaten

How to Make White Buttermilk Cake
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk.
- Combine sifted cake flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add to shortening mixture. Alternating with remaining 1 1/2 cups buttermilk. Stir in vanilla. Gently fold in beaten egg whites.
- Pour into a 9x13" greased baking dish. Bake for 50 minutes.
