I have 2 favorite cakes...carrot and black forest...Every year my mom would ask me what kind of cake I wanted for my birthday...I'd say either one and she always made me this one...Black Forest...because she didn't like carrot cake lol One year I told her Carrot Cake and I still got Black Forest lol

Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 3 - eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 can cherry pie filling, i like the one with extra cherries
- 1 pint whipping cream, whipped and sweetened
How To Make wendy's black forest cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350, grease and flour 2 - 9" round cake pans. Can cover bottoms with wax paper if desired.

Step 2Combine dry ingredients in large bowl...Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, beat until will blended. Pour batter evenly into pans. Bake 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Step 3Cool layers in pans, on wire racks for 10 minutes. Loosen edges and remove cake to racks to cool completely.

Step 4When cooled, put one layer on cake plate, top with 1 cup whipped cream and 1/2 can of pie filling, top with 2nd layer of cake, top with last half of pie filling, use remaining whipped cream to frost sides of cake and reserving a couple tablespoons for garnish, as a dalop on top in the middle of the cake.
