How to Make Waldorf Red Velvet Cake
1/2 Cup Shorning and 1 1/2 Cup Sugar
Then add 2 eggs BLEND WELL
3 oz. Red Food Coloring with 2 Tbsp. Cocoa (make a paste)
ADD to creamed mixture.
COMBINE: 1 Cup buttermilk and 1 tsp. salt
ADD ALTERNATELY with 2 1/4 cups cake flour
THEN ADD 1 tsp vanilla
LAST ADD: 1 tsp. soda dissolved in 1 Tbsp vinegar
DO NOT BEAT. Just blend well. BAKE in two 9-inch layer pans 30 minutes in 350 degree oven. When cool SPLIT the layers, making 4.
COOK until thick:
5 Tablespoon flour and 1 cup sweet milk
ALLOW TO COOL
CREAM TOGETHER: 1 cup margarine and 1 cup sugar
ADD cooled flour mixture and 1 tsp vanilla.
BEAT only until of spreading consistency. Add coloring or leave white.
