This cake recipe was given to me by a friend of mine's mother. It is absolutely delicious. My daughter is a chocoholic and she loves this cake. I hope everyone enjoy it as much as we do. Sorry I don't have a photo at this time.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 - squares bakers melted chocolate
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • ICING
  • 1 1/2 - squares bakers chocolate
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cups powder sugar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

How To Make waldorf astoria (24-hour cake)

  • Step 1
    Cake: Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour tube pan or bundt pan, set aside. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes). Add in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla and melted chocolate squares. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Add the flour mixture into the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk, in three additions, scraping down the sides of bowl each time. Fold in nuts
  • Step 2
    Icing: Melt chocolate squares and butter together. Let cool. Add vanilla. Beat together egg, lemon juice and powdered sugar. Add to chocolate mixture. Stir in chopped nuts.
  • Step 3
    Ice cake when cooled. Let stand 24 hours before cutting.
