This cake recipe was given to me by a friend of mine's mother. It is absolutely delicious. My daughter is a chocoholic and she loves this cake. I hope everyone enjoy it as much as we do. Sorry I don't have a photo at this time.

Ingredients

1/2 c
butter

baking powder

squares bakers melted chocolate
1 1/2 c
milk
1 c
chopped nuts
1/2 tsp
salt

ICING

1 1/2
squares bakers chocolate
4 Tbsp
butter
1 tsp
vanilla
1 1/3 c
powder sugar
1 c
chopped nuts
1 tsp
lemon juice

How to Make Waldorf Astoria (24-hour cake)

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cake: Preheat oven to 350°.
    Grease and flour tube pan or bundt pan, set aside.
    In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes).
    Add in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Beat in vanilla and melted chocolate squares.
    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
    Add the flour mixture into the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk, in three additions, scraping down the sides of bowl each time. Fold in nuts
  • 2Icing: Melt chocolate squares and butter together. Let cool. Add vanilla. Beat together egg, lemon juice and powdered sugar. Add to chocolate mixture. Stir in chopped nuts.
  • 3Ice cake when cooled. Let stand 24 hours before cutting.
